Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace
These terms are often used interchangeably and in synthesis. But do they really mean the same thing? What is the difference? How are they related. We will delve into the social dynamics which differentiate each of these terms. There are opportunities for organizations to review, assess and improve current workplace practice and culture to create a more harmonious and people conscious environment.
Developing an Equity Lens
This training session is an introductory course on equity and social justice. It allows for several entry points for discussion and a deeper understanding of forms and types of Oppression. We will explore historical contexts and origins of oppressive structures to help learners further develop their ability to see the world through an equitable lens.
Healing the Hidden Wounds of Racial Trauma: A Tool for Youth Workers
This particular training session has been curated and designed to bring an awareness to the fact that racial incidents are traumatic and damaging to the psyche. We also draw attention to the ongoing systemic racism faced by black youth across multiple sectors throughout their daily lives. We share the steps for racial healing and within that context provide tangible strategies which can be employed to disrupt anti- Black racism and to support students through the racial healing process.
Anti- Racism and Allyship
This training will discuss race and racialization in historical contexts and draw correlations to modern institutional and organizational practices. The discussions are meant to inform clients on how to decolonize their work spaces and dismantle any racially oppressive structures which may be stifling growth and overall productivity. We also explore allyship and ways to engage racialilzed and non racialized staff in effective and impactful anti-racist and action.
Anti- Black Racism: Origins, Manifestations and Eradication
This training is specific to anti- Black racism. We will look at the definitions and frameworks tied to the concept of anti- Blackness and explore how anti- Black racism has been propagated over time. We will also look at social conditioning and bias and how to uncover the ways to address and interrupt social patterns and learned behaviours. Thus, resulting in the ability to offer possibilities of a space which provides full inclusion and equity for all stakeholders.
